The training philosophy here at Rainbow 1 Ranch is simple. We ride your horse regularly and use consistent, fair training methods. Horses are naturally looking for a leader and we give them leadership in all phases of handling. Solid ground work sets the foundation for under saddle work and it is reinforced every day. All training horses get to spend time standing quietly tied waiting their turn under saddle. The horse’s responses set the pace for his or her training regimen.
We have many years of experience training horse for arena events and have been very successful. We have just as many years experience turning out solidly trained horses to be ranch and trail horses.

Much of our training is done in the pastures or in the back woods, rather than in the arena. They learn to twist and turn around trees, give to leg pressure to avoid obstacles, back out of tight spots and follow their noses without being bored by endless repetition. They will remember those lessons learned in the back pasture when they get to the arena and show positive progress in their training program. They also learn to go through water and travel quietly. Even more importantly, they learn it is OK to be the only horse out there and trust the leadership of their rider and relax.
